Before the digital age, the US government was spying on the Soviet Union and photographing their every move….talk about creepy! How did they do this? The US launched about 20 satellites, each was equipped with 60 miles of film along with cameras. After the rolls of film was finished, it was shot back to earth in bucket like pods with and parachuted over the Pacific Ocean, where they were picked up with a grappling hooks by C-130 Air Force planes.

For other odd ball pieces of photographic information (potentially useless but still fun), check out the Did you Know and Quotes Categories of my page. I will be posting one or two a week.

To all the shutterbugs…Happy Shooting!
