Photo Quickie: Slow Shutter Speed

Streaking tree was created one winter morning. The barren tree was photographed using a long exposure and zooming the telephoto lens out as the shutter remained open. Photographed by Melissa Fague.

Photo Quickie: Slow Shutter Speed

Shooting with a good tripod, is best when using a slow shutter speed but don’t be afraid to handhold at slow shutter speeds; the serendipitous effects can be wonderful abstract view of the world. The blurring of your movement can give the photograph a sense of movement even in a still nature photograph.
