Photographer in the Spotlight: Landscape Photographer Patrick Smith
Today is the day for Patrick’s final showcase image, this landscape photograph is of a tree lined roadway leading to the Point Reyes Lighthouse, it’s one of my favorite from his collection. I love the subtle tones and the leading lines created by the trees; the photograph is simple by very well composed and the fog gives a were calm feeling to the photograph.
We chose to showcase Patrick Smith’s beautiful work this week because he not only creates magnificent landscape photographs but he also offers assistance to other photographers on how to create their own. With each image displayed on his website he shares the story and the camera settings about that particular photograph; as well as helpful tips to his audience. It is rare to find photographers willing to share their experience to that extent. We hope you enjoy this weeks selection of his work; we sure do.
Patrick’s Bio and Artist Statement
I enjoy landscape photography and creating other works of art. I seek to witness everything that is splendid in the landscape and bring it back for all to see. I go to great lengths to be in the right place at the right time to capture nature’s finest moments. I live in the San Francisco area and travel up and down the California coast and elsewhere looking for natural beauty that will inspire people to protect and save our precious natural landscape and seascape.
I also created the world’s largest blood specimen bank and wrote software to store, retrieve and link the specimens to large public databases. In addition, I wrote a science fiction series about our future as a species.
Photography brings the world together in a way that nothing else does. You can travel to nearly anywhere on Earth, and if you pull out some photos people will want to see them and talk about them. I spend weeks or even years trying to be in a special place at the right time, and photography enables me to take everyone along to witness those events. I hope that people will look at my images of these special places, talk about them, and work to preserve them for future generations.
Today’s Spotlight Photograph: Landscape Photo – Myst, Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, California
A few weeks ago PI Photography and Fine Art rolled out with a new series of blog posts called Photographer in the Spotlight. For a full week we will showcase a brief bio, artist statement and show some of the photographer’s work that we found most interesting. Our hope is that our viewers not only see the beautiful work created by the photographer but also learn a little about the artist behind the pieces. There are so many wonderful photographers in the world and a lot of the time we only see the photograph, not the artist. So we thought it would be nice to show appreciation for the artist, for their dedication to their field, and share some of their work along the way.
Think about it, if it wasn’t for the artist then there would be no art to admire and honestly, life would be pretty boring without it! So show your appreciation to them for spicing up your life and showing you their beautiful perception of the world.
If you would like to be showcased or know someone who should be, please submit the info here through our contact Us page: Photographer in the Spotlight Submissions
