Don’t get me wrong — I’m not a music Luddite. I think iTunes is right up there with the greatest inventions ever, and the Shazam smartphone app, which can identify a song you don’t know by simply listening to it, has radically changed my listening habits.
But you know what I think is a shame? The advent of digital music has meant a big demise in album cover art — for my money, one of the best parts of old-school vinyl records, tapes and CDs.
