“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” ― Edgar Degas
Thank you Ray S. for reminding me that art doesn’t just hang on walls. Recently, I lost my father suddenly. I never looked at my dad’s craft (model building) as an art form but as Ray S. spoke at my fathers service, he pointed to the pretty photographs and wall art hanging in the room of the funeral home and stated “Everyone sees these photos and paintings as art and they are beautiful but to me Jon Fague created art too. The details and the creativity of Jon’s models far surpassed a simple model build. To me I see Jon’s builds as art. We have lost a brilliant artist.”
Since I posted of his passing on my father’s Facebook page, my brothers and I have been getting hundreds of messages from people all over the country that felt the same as Ray about my fathers work. Most have never met my father in person but associated with him quite frequently through Facebook about building. This experience has totally changed my perspective of my fathers craft. Now I can see the amazing details of the hand painted flames, the masterful way he sprayed his gradient blends and patina texture.
So to honor my father’s work, I would like to share with you a few photos of his builds.
