I simply love PPG / Glidden paints color of the year for 2020. I’ve been seeing this amazing color pop-up here and there and it simply excites me ever time I see it. I first saw the color on a beach property that was being rehabbed in Lewes while my hubby and I stayed at the shore. The home was on the corner of the block where we were staying, so each time we drove by the house I was craning my neck like a Nosy Nellie to see the colors and textures the homeowners choice to pair with this gorgeous blue. From that day on it was popping up everywhere else around me. So you can tell I’m simply overjoyed that it’s PPG’s COTY for 2020 and stoked to start creating designs that incorporate this surreal color.
PPG announced the other day that the color of the year for 2020 is a “Blend of cobalt and moody, ink blue that offers escapism”…yeah I’m all about being moody, and wanting to escape for some relaxation. In a fast paced techno world this color is a welcome contrast that will provide you with a sense of calm serenity and lift your spirits on a daily basis.
The stunning color I’m speaking of is called Chinese Porcelain PPG1160-6, it’s such a versatile color that it will work with almost any interior design style. Like I said, I first saw the color at the beach and the homeowners used a creaming accent color for the trim; I’m assuming the trim color was Alapaca Wool. The second time I saw the color used was in a modern style home with very sleek lines. I can’t remember the other occasions but I do remember that color really jumping out at me. Regardless of my horrible memory Chinese Porcelain worked perfectly for in all of the home renovations and interior design applications that I saw.
“The faster technology moves and the more convenience it offers, the more we seek activities, experiences and lifestyles that impart slowness and realness into our lives,” – Dee Schlotter, senior color manager, PPG paint brand.
