A few weeks ago PPG / Glidden Paint’s announced their color of the year for 2020, a beautiful calming but yet energetic dark blue that I simply love. Today I wanted to share with you 33 designs that we created that pair perfectly with this amazing wall color and it’s suggested accent colors.

I just want to give a shoot out to all of the people who purchased a variety of my home decor items this past week from my Society 6 shops PIPA Design and Simply Solids. So far, this is the best week for my design work 😍 yet. Loving the results, and I’m super glad that I’m getting good feedback from the customers too.
I was honestly scared that the shift in my creative work (from photography to graphic design) since my car accident wouldn’t work out for me but I’m seeing some positive results from it and truly thankful for everything. Thank you…thank you …thank you!
Anyone who has ever painted a room in their home or office knows, color is paramount to the over all design or vision of that location. Pick the wrong color and everything, from the your furnishings to your artwork, can appear unbalanced or incomplete. Meanwhile, the right color can add an extra layer of splendor to each texture and finish in the room or area.
Paint manufacture’s and color experts spend countless hours and days traveling, interviewing and researching every year to bring us their predicted colors of the year; in order to help us “the consumers” make educated decisions when it comes to painting or building our interior spaces.
“Color is an intensely relatable, personal choice that humans interact with everyday,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “It acts as a guide in design, and our role as a paint company is to help educate our customers on what’s out there in the marketplace. That kind of assignment is where color forecasts play an integral role.”
The same guideline apply to the decor that is going to accent the interior spaces. Picking the wrong accent colors or accent pieces diminishes the glory of the area. Personally, I have had several occasions where I was wrong when picking out my decor. I would see throw pillows, window curtains or blankets on the shelves of the large department stores and think to myself “WOW… that is a perfect match to my room colors”…just to come home and see that I was way off base, the items didn’t match at all. Ultimately, I would have to return the items I purchased and look elsewhere.
So this year, we created a “man cave” for hubby and I was in charge of finding the textiles for the room. After several trips back and forth to a variety of stores I was frustrated and stuck. Meanwhile, he had the walls painted and he was setting up the furniture and entertainment system (his favorite part).
I decided to try and make the decor to match, what do I have to lose? I already create designs for home decor, so why not try with specific colors from the paint manufactures. I researched the colors we were working with and found their hex value code (the hue blends) to create solid throw pillows and a few designs in Photoshop for accent pillows and window treatments. The result: I was complete happy with the turn out; I was extremely close to the colors we was working with….like 97% close. I would have to say the difference between the finishes of the material was the only thing that altered the appearance of color at different angles.
So for the last 3 months I’ve been working on helping people reduce the stress of finding decor to match their interior paint colors. It has been going so well in my Society 6 shop for PIPA Fine Art , I start a new shop dedicated to solid colors called Simply Solids. I figured I would start with the colors of the year and forecast colors from 8 paint manufactures and color experts. Now, I would like to present to you the first batch of colors we are releasing in our new shop that match the colors of the year from the 8 leading color experts.
